Whisky Focus - anCnoc 18 Year Old

anCnoc 18 Year Old

7th November 2014
anCnoc add an 18 year old expression to there expanding range.

anCnoc have announced a new addition to their core range of whiskies, the anCnoc 18 year old. There will initially be 6000 bottles of the anCnoc 18 year old available worldwide with more to follow.

Matured in a combination of hand picked Spanish oak ex-sherry casks and American oak ex-bourbon casks which anCnoc says has resulted in a single malt which is bursting with oriental spices and toasted vanilla, with a full bodied taste and a surge of honey and caramel to finish. Bottled as we like it, in its most natural form, non chill-filtered, natural colour at 46% ABV the new whisky has an RRP of £70.

The packaging stays true to anCnoc’s trademark minimalistic style, featuring an artful depiction of the landscape surrounding the Knockdhu distillery where anCnoc is produced.

anCnoc Assistant Brand Manager, Stephanie Bridge commented: "2014 has been anCnoc’s most ambitious year to date. We unveiled our new Peaty Collection in April, two new expressions for Global Travel Retail and our hugely popular 2000 Vintage. We are confident that our new anCnoc 18 years old will be extremely popular amongst single malt aficionados with its unique taste profile and striking packaging."

The anCnoc 18 year old tops off a busy year of releases for anCnoc where earlier this year we were treated to the anCnoc 2000 Vintage which coincidentally anCnoc also described as exhibiting oriental spices and toasted vanilla which is no surprise as it was also matured in Spanish oak ex-sherry casks and American oak ex-bourbon casks. There was also the superb limited release anCnoc Peaty Collection whiskies of Rutter, Flaughter and Tushkar which were recently joined by anCnoc Cutter. As I said a busy year for anCnoc which has seen them release some excellent whiskies.
