Review of anCnoc 2009 Vintage
matured in a combination of First-Fill
Spanish oak butts and American
ex-Bourbon oak barrels.
anCnoc
2009 Vintage is the latest instalment
from Knockdhu distillery's vintages
collection. This latest offering was
distilled in 2009 then matured in a
combination of First-Fill Spanish oak
butts and American ex-Bourbon oak
barrels before being bottled in 2021.
Knockdhu Distillery Manager Gordon Bruce
commented on the anCnoc 2009 Vintage
saying: "We’ve been waiting twelve years
for this vintage and it has definitely
been worth the wait. This is a dram that
has all the light, fresh qualities of
anCnoc that are so loved by our
drinkers, but there’s also a rich
spiciness and complexity from its time
in the casks.
"It’s always a joy to release a new
whisky out into the world. I’m
particularly proud that the character of
this new vintage captures the way we do
things at Knockdhu, and the traditions
we hold dear, yet it still tastes like a
very modern single malt. anCnoc 2009
Vintage will be a real treat for whisky
drinkers looking for something a little
bit different to explore, or as a
special addition to the Christmas list
of anyone who appreciates a well-crafted
single malt."
anCnoc 2009 Vintage has been bottled at
46% ABV, non-chilled filtered and is
naturally coloured. 7,920 bottles are
available for the UK and global markets,
with an RRP of £50 you
will soon find it available from specialist
online whisky retailers such as
The Whisky Exchange,
Amazon
and

William
Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
Green apple, honey and a touch of sweet
vanilla toffee, a little lemon citrus
and some distant oak spice.
Taste:
Juicy sugars and a little vanilla toffee
with a lovely oak spiced edge fills the
mouth these are quickly joined by a mix
of green apple and some lemon and orange
citrus.
Finish:
Deliciously long, malty, citrusy and
spicy. The sugared oak spices peak then
slowly bow out.
Comment: Unpeated anCnoc is at its best when matured in
ex-Bourbon barrels and no doubt
ex-Bourbon barrels have played the lead
role in the creation of this 2009
Vintage, a deliciously enjoyable smooth
easy drinking anCnoc with sugars, spice
and all things nice. With Christmas now
on the horizon if you are looking for a
gift for a whisky loving friend or
relative or perhaps something new to
pour for yourself during the holidays
this should be well received by any
whisky drinker.
SMW Score 89/100
