Independent
Scotch whisky producer Ardgowan
Distillery Company Ltd has secured new
distribution agreements for its
Clydebuilt brand, strengthening its
presence in key markets across Europe,
North America, and Asia.
At the distillery in Inverclyde, casks
are matured and hand-selected for
bottling by Distillery Manager and
Whisky Maker Laura Davies. The
Clydebuilt range draws inspiration from
the River Clyde’s legendary shipbuilding
heritage, where the name became
synonymous with quality and
craftsmanship.
In August 2025, Ardgowan signed an
exclusive agreement with Kammer-Kirsch
GmbH, a respected German importer of
premium spirits since 1990. The deal
positions Germany as a strategic market,
with the ambition that it will become a
top-three destination for both
Clydebuilt and, in time, Ardgowan Single
Malt.
Further growth has been secured through
distribution partnerships with Roy + Co
in Canada, Galatea AB in Sweden, and
Single Malt Sdn Bhd, which covers
Singapore and Malaysia. These agreements
were led by David Keir, Ardgowan’s Sales
& Marketing Director, who brings more
than 25 years’ experience building
premium spirits brands worldwide.
“These new partnerships mark a
significant step in Ardgowan’s journey
as we bring our boutique Clydebuilt
brand and future Ardgowan Single Malt to
discerning whisky drinkers in these
important markets. Consumers in these
countries hold a strong appreciation for
Scotch whisky, and by working closely
with our new partners, we can share our
enthusiasm for quality, innovation and
craftsmanship on a much wider scale,”
said Keir.
Gerald Erdrich, Managing Director of
Kammer-Kirsch GmbH, added:
“We are delighted to introduce
Ardgowan’s Clydebuilt range to Germany
and, in due course, the first Ardgowan
Single Malt. Ardgowan’s long-term vision
and commitment to quality make them an
ideal partner for us, and we look
forward to growing the brand together in
Germany.”
Ardgowan began producing spirit in June
this year, becoming the first new
distillery in Inverclyde in over a
century. Sustainability is central to
its operations, with significant
investment made in both cask policy and
innovation. Three years ahead of
completion, the business committed
millions of pounds to sourcing casks,
including the creation of a bespoke
Infinity Cask designed for maturation
periods of 18 years or more.
Since its founding in 2017, the
independently owned distillery has
worked closely with Bodega Miguel Martín
to secure the finest European oak
ex-Sherry casks, underlining its
commitment to wood quality.
The company recently opened its
distillery shop and visitor tours at
Inverkip, currently running twice daily
from Tuesday to Saturday, with plans to
expand in the future.
You will find the Clydebuilt whisky range available from specialist online whisky
