Bacardi takes
minority stake in Teeling Whiskey for
undisclosed sum.

With Irish whiskey sales continuing
to boom in the US market Bacardi has
taken its first step into the Irish
whiskey marketplace in a deal with
Dublin based Teeling Whiskey Company.
Bacardi has taken a minority share in
Teeling Whiskey for an undisclosed
amount.
In the deal Teeling Company founders,
Jack and Stephen Teeling will continue
to run the company independently of
Bacardi. The deal will see Teeling move
most of its distribution in the United
States to Bacardi’s distribution network
with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits
from September 1, 2017.
The US is the largest single market for
Irish Whiskey exports, and continues to
grow, getting
access to Bacardi's distribution network
in the US in exchange for a minority
share of Teeling for Bacardi has
obviously been the deal clincher for the
Teeling Whiskey Company which was
established 5 year ago by Jack and
Stephen Teeling after leaving Cooley
Whiskey, which had been founded by their
father John and was sold to Beam at the
end of 2011.
Jack Teeling, Teeling Whiskey managing
director, commented: "The US market is
by far the most important market for
Irish whiskey and it is beginning to go
through significant ‘premiumisation’.
Given the size of the opportunity, when
a chance came up to partner with Bacardi
through their new national distribution
partnership and unique route-to-market
model with Southern Glazer’s, it was too
good not to take.
"Joining forces with a partner of this
calibre in the largest market for Irish
whiskey is an important strategic
development for us and is testament to
what Teeling Whiskey has achieved over
the past five years."
You will find the current Teeling whiskey range available from
