San Francisco
triumph for the classic Speyside whisky
Benromach 10 Years Old
Benromach’s
excellent flagship 10 Year Old Single
Malt Scotch Whisky has picked up another
gold medal, this time from one of the
world’s most prestigious spirits
competitions, the San Francisco World
Spirits Competition.
Judges at the 2015 San Francisco World
Spirits Competition awarded the coveted
accolade to the classic 10 year old
Speyside whisky which was produced at
the Benromach Distillery in Forres.
This year more than 1,500 spirits were
judged in the competition, held at the
Hotel Nikko in Downtown San Francisco.
The spirits were evaluated by 41 leading
professionals and judged in blind
tastings which the organisers say and I
am sure many of you will agree makes the
competition one of the most "reputable
and recognized … in the spirits
industry".
Ewen Mackintosh, Chief Operating Officer
of malt whisky specialists Gordon &
MacPhail, which owns Benromach, said:
"We are naturally delighted that
Benromach 10 Years Old has been
recognised as a very high-quality
product in such a prestigious
competition.
"The judging is rigorous and challenging
because the individual judges really
know their stuff, and it is heartening
that Benromach 10 Years Old has been so
well received."
Meanwhile Benromach Organic, the world's
first organic whisky which meets
rigorous UK Soil Association standards
for growing the ingredients,
distillation, maturation and bottling,
picked up a silver medal in the same
competition.
