Benromach
launch their first Triple Distilled
whisky.
It
appears that the Benromach distillery
have been getting a bit creative, the
Speyside distillery today unveiled its
first triple distilled single malt
whisky which is very aptly named
Benromach Triple Distilled.
The new Benromach Triple Distilled joins
a very small group of Scotch malt
whiskies which have been produced
using the triple distillation production
method, a method which is more typically
associated with Irish whiskey.
Triple distillation was once common in
the Scottish Lowlands, but today the
only Lowland distillery using the triple
distillation production method is
Auchentoshan and of course their is also
Hazelburn whisky which is produced at
the Springbank Campbeltown distillery
making the new Benromach a rare Speyside
Triple Distilled whisky.
The Benromach Triple Distilled is a 2009
vintage and interestingly the folks at
Benromach have taken what will be a
lighter fruitier triple distilled spirit
and matured it in first fill bourbon
barrels for around 8 years before
bottling it at 50% ABV in 2017.
Benromach Distillery Manager Keith
Cruickshank commented: "The launch of
our Benromach Triple Distilled single
malt marks an exciting time for us here
at the distillery as we continue to
expand our family of Speyside single
malt whiskies.
"This new whisky is distilled in a wash
still once and twice in a spirit still,
before it is matured in first fill
bourbon barrels, resulting in its light,
fruity character with a fantastic
delicate smokiness. The Benromach Triple
Distilled is an exceptional addition to
our Benromach family and we think that
whisky lovers and Benromach fans will be
eager to experience it for themselves."
Keith added: "We handcraft all our
whiskies, giving us flexibility to
experiment with different distilling and
maturation techniques and our new
Benromach Triple Distilled is testament
to this."
A limited release of 1,300 cases which
is around 15,000 bottles
with a RRP of £44.99, the Benromach
Triple Distilled will be available in
the UK and Europe from
specialist online whisky shops such as
