Bladnoch has
unveiled the second instalment in its
Wave Master Distiller's Collection,
Bladnoch Wave II: Distillery & Spirit.

Bladnoch,
Scotland's oldest independently owned
whisky distillery, has just unveiled the
second release in its Wave Master
Distiller's Collection, Bladnoch Wave
II: Distillery & Spirit.
This five-part limited-edition series
explores the art of whisky marrying,
highlighting the five foundational
pillars of Bladnoch whisky-making as
defined by Bladnoch Master Distiller Dr.
Nick Savage.
To craft The Wave, Dr. Savage selected
five Amontillado sherry tuns to marry
whiskies drawn from various cask
combinations within the distillery’s
historic 208-year-old bluestone
warehouses. Each annual release reveals
the cask types used and showcases a new
pillar of Bladnoch’s philosophy. The
remaining whisky from each release is
carried forward into the next tun,
creating a continuous thread—like a
wave—throughout the collection. The
final release will blend components from
all five chapters.
Bladnoch Wave II: Distillery & Spirit
celebrates Bladnoch’s signature Lowland
spirit and distillery character. This
expression marries whisky from
re-charred butts and barrels with
first-fill ex-bourbon casks in the
second Amontillado sherry tun,
highlighting the fruity and floral notes
that define Bladnoch’s distinctive
style.
Dr Nick Savage, Master Distiller at
Bladnoch Distillery, said: "All Bladnoch
whiskies start their life with the same
exceptional Lowland spirit from our
stills, which gives us the common thread
throughout our single malts. We can use
various cask types to mature out
different flavours, but everything has
the same beginning. Bladnoch is known as
‘Queen of the Lowlands’ and ensuring we
distil a truly consistent Lowland style,
encompassing fruity pear drops and
floral, freshly cut grass, is the
essential starting point for our
whiskies and provides the identity of
our bold Galloway spirit.
"Through The Wave Collection we aim to
take people on the unique journey of our
whisky over time. Each cask takes notes
from the other, building year on year
and Wave II: Distillery & Spirit brings
to life how important it is to have a
robust distillery style. It highlights
our floral, fruity character and our
Lowland style and how it pieces together
with all our other pillars of whisky
making to drive our innovative
taste-first approach."
Bottled at 57% ABV, non-chill filtered,
and natural in colour, Wave II:
Distillery & Spirit is said to deliver a
bold yet refined profile, defined by
notes of pear drops, pineapple, and
ginger. On the nose, it opens with
aromas of pear drops and summer barley.
The palate reveals layers of baked
pineapple and spiced ginger snaps,
leading to a floral, fresh finish with a
touch of warming spice.
This release follows Wave I: Time &
Maturation, launched in June 2024, which
showcased Bladnoch’s commitment to
selecting casks at their peak maturation
point to capture the whisky's fullest
flavour potential.
Like its predecessor, Wave II is limited
to just 1,817 bottles—honouring the year
Bladnoch was founded. Priced at Ł125
RRP, it is available exclusively from
the Bladnoch Distillery and online at
bladnoch.com, with international
shipping to over 30 countries.
To celebrate the launch, Bladnoch hosted
Wave Day on Saturday, 14 June 2025—a
one-day festival at the distillery
honouring its rich Galloway heritage.
Whisky enthusiasts from around the world
gathered for the first chance to taste
and purchase this highly anticipated
release.
Founded in 1817, Bladnoch Distillery is
one of the oldest single malt Scotch
whisky producers in the world and is now
experiencing a bold resurgence. Its
historic legacy was revitalised in 2015
when Australian entrepreneur David Prior
acquired the distillery—becoming the
first Australian to own a Scotch whisky
distillery.
You will also find the current Bladnoch
whisky range available from specialist online whisky
shops such as
The Whisky Exchange
