Bowmore 14 Year Old Travel Retail Exclusive

13th October 2026
New Kalamkari-inspired gift pack Bowmore 14 Year Old travel retail exclusive brings together Bowmore's heritage and Indian craftsmanship for the festive season.

Bowmore Islay single malt Scotch whisky is celebrating the 2026 festive season with the launch of an exclusive Bowmore 14 Year Old Kalamkari-inspired gift pack for global travel retail. The special edition brings together the heritage of Islay whisky-making and the centuries-old artistic traditions of India, creating a distinctive premium gift for the festive gifting season.

Launching today, 13 October 2026, with new packaging which draws inspiration from Kalamkari, a traditional Indian art form known for its intricate hand-drawn and block-printed designs. The name combines kalam, meaning pen, and kari, meaning craftsmanship or work, reflecting a tradition built around patience, precision and the skill of the human hand.

For Bowmore, these qualities provide a natural connection with the craftsmanship and time that define its approach to whisky-making.

Created with premium whisky gifting in mind, the collectible packaging features a 360-degree design incorporating detailed illustrations, layered textures and shimmering gold accents.

Among its central features is a Kalamkari-inspired peacock, representing celebration, protection and good fortune. The design also reimagines Bowmore's signature sea dragon in the traditional Indian artistic style, alongside illustrations of Bowmore Distillery and the iconic No.1 Vaults, one of the world's oldest Scotch whisky maturation warehouses.

Fruits and spices complete the decorative artwork, reflecting the flavours and aromas associated with the whisky inside. The result is a gift pack that connects Bowmore’s maritime Islay heritage with the colour, detail and symbolism of Indian craftsmanship.

Bowmore 14-Year-Old Scotch whisky combines smoke and Bordeaux cask influence

First introduced in 2024 as part of the Bowmore Appellations travel retail-exclusive collection, Bowmore 14 Year Old (43% ABV) was created as part of a series exploring the relationship between Scotch whisky and some of the world’s celebrated wine-producing regions.

The single malt is matured in American oak ex-Bourbon casks before being finished in carefully selected Bordeaux barriques. This combination brings together Bowmore’s characteristic Islay smoke with vibrant orchard fruit aromas, complemented by berry sweetness from the Bordeaux cask finishing.

The expression provides the centrepiece for the new Kalamkari-inspired presentation, combining Bowmore’s established whisky-making traditions with a distinctive design created for the international travel retail gifting market.

Look out for Bowmore festive activations planned for Delhi, Heathrow and Bengaluru.

To support the launch, Bowmore will bring the Kalamkari-inspired edition to life through a series of travel retail activations during the festive season, with a particular focus on gifting, discovery and whisky experiences.

At Delhi Duty Free, a dedicated high-profile promotion will run throughout October and November, coinciding with Diwali, one of India's most significant festive celebrations.

Further activations are planned for London Heathrow and Bengaluru, where travellers will be invited to discover Bowmore’s whiskies through immersive brand experiences. A curated chocolate-pairing experience will showcase the flavours of selected Bowmore expressions, while a specially created chocolate box will be available as a gift-with-purchase.

The campaign aims to connect the distinctive character of Bowmore single malt Scotch whisky with the spirit of festive celebration, offering international travellers a premium gifting option that celebrates both Scottish whisky heritage and Indian artistic traditions.

Vanessa Widmann, Managing Director, Global Travel Retail, Middle East and Africa at Suntory Global Spirits, comments: "Diwali is an important time of celebration, connection and gifting for millions of people around the world. We are delighted to collaborate with our travel retail partners on this special-edition that celebrates the artistry of Kalamkari and offers travellers a distinctive gift for the festive season."
