unveil Bowmore 1966, the third edition
in the Bowmore 50 Year Old Vault Legends
Collection.

1966 50 Year Old is one of those
whisky's which mere mortals such as
myself can only dream about and only
those of you with very deep pockets or
lottery winners will ever get to
experience.
The Bowmore 1966 is the
third edition in the Bowmore 50 Year Old
Vault Legends Collection, this latest
edition was matured for 50 years in a
single ex-Bourbon hogshead cask# 5675
and bottled at 41.5% ABV.
The whisky actually celebrates quite a
memorable year for the Islay distillery
as 1966 was actually the first year that
Bowmore single malt whisky was
officially bottled by the distillery and
it was also the year which the now
legendary Bowmore Distillery Manager,
Eddie MacAffer, joined the Bowmore
distillery.
As you would expect the Bowmore 1966 50
Year Old is presented in premium bottle
and presntation box, it comes in a
handmade crystal decanter boasting
sterling silver adornments and is housed
in a hand crafted cabinet made from
quality Scottish oak. At the centre of
the each cabinet lies five hand laid
silver tree rings depicting the five
decades of the rare vintage's
maturation. The characterful nature of
the Scottish oak means each individual
bottling will be entirely unique with no
two bottles being the same.
Only 74 bottles of the Bowmore 1966
50 Year Old will be available worldwide,
it has a RRP of
$30,000/£22,450 and will be available
from December in specialist
online whisky shops such as
The Whisky Exchange and
Master of Malt

The official tasting note is a little
short and lacking detail, but here it is
anyway.
Producer's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
On the nose, Bowmore 1966 50 Years Old
offers elegant bursts of lychee,
pineapple, and watermelon, developing
into light floral notes and a dry finish
on the palate. It is perfectly balanced
with a silky whisper of smooth syrup.
