Bowmore Tempest Batch 4 has arrived. Another cracking gentle coastal dram!
A
little later than we have been expecting
but it is finally here. Bowmore have
announced the release of the Bowmore
Tempest Batch 4. So was it worth the
wait? Having just tasted it for the
first time I can say a big YES! Another
cracking gentle coastal dram from
Bowmore.
Those of you who have had the pleasure
of the first three Bowmore Tempest
batches will already know each batch has
subtle differences and this time I would
say it is a gentler more delicate
expression but still very much a quality
expression of Bowmore. In fact I would
swear there must be some Bowmore in the
the mix way beyond the 10 year age
statement on the bottle to give it such
a gentle smoothness but there is
still enough 10 year old in there to
give batch 4 it's zesty spiciness.
Bowmore Tempest Batch 4 like the first 3
batches was bottled at 10 years old at a
cask strength of 55.1% ABV and with less than
2,000 cases released
worldwide this is a limited edition priced with an RRP of £49.99.
Morrison Bowmore Master Blender Rachel
Barrie describes the dram as
"Effervescent waves of citrus and ocean
spice, tempered by warm ripples of
smooth vanilla and wispy smoke."
"It's like being out on a boat in the
ocean waves, with bracing sea air, ocean
spices and salty drizzle sharpening the
senses and clearing the mind," said
Barrie. "As you get closer to shore, the
bright sun breaks through the clouds
bringing a satisfying warmth, rewarding
you with sun-drenched fruit and vanilla
sweetness."
Completing the experience, Rachel
suggests a unique food pairing that
fuses sweet and savoury. Vanilla ice
cream, olive oil drizzle and a sprinkle
of sea-salt served with mandarin and
pistachio meringue.
Bowmore Tempest Batch 4 will be
available from whisky specialist shops
from May 2013.
