Bruichladdich
expands its global travel retail
collection with the launch of
Bruichladdich Organic Barley 16 Aged
Years. This travel retail exclusive
single malt makes its world debut this
month at Singapore Changi Airport, as
part of the innovative Changi 1st
initiative.

Rémy Cointreau-owned Bruichladdich
Distillery has launched a new global
travel retail exclusive: Bruichladdich
Organic Barley 16 Aged Years. Following
the success of last year’s ‘Not Your
Classic Whisky’ campaign, the latest
release debuted this month at Singapore
Changi Airport in partnership with LOTTE
DUTY FREE Singapore, enjoying a
two-month exclusive listing before
expanding to key airports worldwide.
A broader rollout will bring the whisky
to global travel hubs, including
Copenhagen, Frankfurt, London, Glasgow,
the Middle East, and India, supported by
a high-impact promotional campaign
showcasing the wider Bruichladdich
portfolio.
‘Not Your Classic’ Activation

At Changi, the campaign’s bold aqua and
orange visuals—along with a life-size
sheep model—celebrate Bruichladdich’s
Islay heritage. A dedicated Tasting Bar
invites travellers to sample the brand’s
single malts, including the new Organic
Barley 16 Aged Years, the Classic Laddie
Sherry Cask Edition, 21 Aged Years, the
Singapore-exclusive Micro Provenance
Cask, and the peated Port Charlotte and
Octomore ranges.
Experiential displays highlight whisky
stories, tasting notes, and exclusivity.
A fun, interactive ‘Not Your Classic’
Jumping Game lets travellers use their
voices to control jumping sheep while
learning about key whisky features.
"We are delighted to partner with Rémy
Cointreau to introduce the Bruichladdich
Organic Barley 16 Aged Years as a Changi
1st exclusive," commented LOTTE DUTY
FREE Singapore Managing Director Jeff
Jeong Soongyu. "This world-first launch
brings travellers a whisky with true
character. Bruichladdich’s focus on
provenance and quality speaks to today’s
discerning consumers, and we’re pleased
that LOTTE DUTY FREE Singapore is the
first to offer this exceptional
release."
Reconnecting Land and Dram
This Bruichladdich 16 Year Old unpeated
single malt is said to deliver
extraordinary flavour, crafted from 100%
organically grown malting barley.
Sourced from Mid Coul Farm in Inverness,
Scotland, the barley is cultivated
without artificial fertilisers or
pesticides, promoting healthy soils and
reducing agrochemical use.
Bruichladdich’s partnership with Mid
Coul Farm dates back to 2003, reflecting
the B Corp-certified distillery’s
dedication to flavour, traceability, and
sustainable agriculture. This latest
release embodies their long-standing
commitment to bridging the connection
between land and dram.
"We’re passionate about creating the
most thought-provoking spirits, and that
starts with our essential raw
ingredients," noted Bruichladdich
Distillery Head Distiller Adam Hannett.
"Great consideration is given to the
type of barley varietals we distil, as
well as where and how the grain is
grown. With a complex and nuanced
flavour profile, organic malting barley
is a great example of a naturally grown
cereal which not only tastes incredible
but has long-term environmental
benefits."
Fully traceable from farm to glass, the
Organic Barley 16 Aged Years has been
matured exclusively on Islay. Aged in
100% bourbon casks, the ex-Bourbon
American oak imparts smooth vanilla
cream and delicate wood spices, which
they say perfectly enhances—without
overshadowing—the whisky’s clean,
cereal-forward character.
Purity and provenance
"The clarity of flavour from the
organically grown malting barley is
quite remarkable," continued Hannett.
"Free from chemical intervention, the
barley is the purest expression of its
terroir, shaped by its geographical
location, climate and the soil it has
grown in. It’s a delicate balancing act
to ensure that the influence of the cask
doesn’t dominate the overall flavour,
and this expression lets the unctuous,
rich cereal-forward notes of the organic
barley shine."
Bottled at 50% ABV, Bruichladdich
Organic Barley 16 Aged Years is a light,
vibrant single malt. The tell me that
the nose bursts with tropical
fruits—pineapple, peach, and apricot
jam—while ex-Bourbon American oak casks
add smoothness and depth. On the palate,
organic barley shines through with notes
of malt sugar, warm straw, and sweet
toffee popcorn.
Every stage of production meets the
highest organic certification standards,
from barley cultivation and transport to
fermentation, distillation, maturation,
and bottling—each step inspected by the
Biodynamic Association.
This Bruichladdich Organic Barley 16
Aged Years joins Bruichladdich’s
exclusive traveller’s range, alongside
The Classic Laddie Sherry Cask Edition
and The Bruichladdich Twenty One.
