Independent
bottler Caskshare opens ballot for a
£1,625 bottle of Springbank 30 Year Old
single malt, single cask whisky due to
the demand for the whisky, the ballot
will be drawn this coming Monday so
don't hang around if you want a chance
of getting hold of one of the 135
bottles available.

Independent bottler Caskshare is
offering whisky fans the chance to to
get hold of a rare Springbank 30 Year
Old single malt, single cask whisky
which is currently still maturing in the
cask.
Distilled in 1993 the un-peated spirit
was laid down to mature in an ex-bourbon
cask and Caskshare plan to bottle the
rare Springbank after it has reached the
age of 30 year old which will be around
April 2023. The Springbank 30 Year Old
will be bottled at cask strength and
there will be only 135 bottles up for
grabs.
Caskshare tells me that the demand from
whisky fans for the Springbank 30 Year
Old which has a price tag of £1,625 has
been so extraordinary that they have
opened a ballot to allow hopefuls to
register to buy one of 135 bottles from
the single cask, which will be one of
few 30 Year Old malts to be bottled in
2023.
The average value of a 30 Year Old
expression from the Campbeltown
distillery has soared to £3,756.30 per
bottle (Whiskybase) and the Rare Whisky
Apex 1000 index put Springbank in the
top 10, also citing it the brand that
showed the most appreciation in the
first half of 2021.
Small wonder that fifteen bottles were
snapped up within one hour of the cask
being listed on Caskshare’s website,
leading to the company removing it from
public sale to open up the opportunity
for whisky fans across the UK to own a
bottle from Drinks International’s ‘most
admired whisky brand’. Several hundred
have since joined the ballot, which
closes at 9am on Monday 21st November.
John Robertson, MD of Caskshare, said:
"Springbank is one of the most revered
whiskies in the market and one of the
most celebrated. They are famous for
malting their own barley and you can
taste the craftsmanship in this very
special 30YO whisky. Caskshare is about
sharing really unique cask-strength
limited-edition whiskies with our
customers and making the ownership of
rare and very interesting single malts
accessible to everyone. In setting up
this ballot we’re standing by those
principles. The response so far has been
phenomenal and we’d encourage anyone
with an interest in having one of 135
bottles to put their names in the hat
now."
A cask-to-glass service, Caskshare was
founded in 2019. As well as selling
whiskies from 13 new-wave distilleries
including Arbikie and Raasay, Caskshare
acts as an independent bottler,
acquiring rare single malt casks direct
from distilleries to enable people to
get a taste of one-of-a-kind whiskies
that can’t be found anywhere else.
