The Dalmore Distillery has today
officially opened the doors to its brand
new Dalmore Visitor Experience,
following a £1million refurbishment by
Inverurie design firm JAMstudio Ltd.
Taking its inspiration from The
Dalmore’s traditions of luxury and
craftsmanship, the refurbished
distillery, 20 miles north of Inverness,
presents an innovative take on the
traditional distillery tour.
Decorated in The Dalmore’s rich colours
of burgundy and silver, the Experience
takes guests on a sensory journey where
they can embrace the unique atmosphere,
sounds and smells of The Dalmore.
Carefully controlled lighting has been
installed to change the mood and the
atmosphere, whilst visitors will also be
able to smell the spirit and hear the
sound of the grain being milled on their
way round.
Scottish craftsmanship lies behind every
element of the Experience - from the
carved oak boardroom table inlaid with
the solid silver 12-point stag’s head
which appears on all bottles of Dalmore,
to the specially designed bottle display
cases, and the “bloodline”, a sparkling
glass mosaic. Other features include
hidden doors, with a secret entrance
from the shop through to the Alchemy
Room where a circular tasting table will
be internally illuminated. At the heart
of the Experience is the Custodians’
Lounge where visitors can discuss their
love of whisky over a glass of Dalmore.
The Dalmore distillery has been
producing exceptional single malt whisky
since 1839. The distillery warehouses
feature some of the oldest whisky stocks
in the world and visitors to the
distillery receive a rare insight into
the skill, expertise and crafting
required to produce each precious drop
of The Dalmore.
Located deep in the Highlands, the
distillery is perfectly placed to take
advantage of its surrounding nature
resources from the waters of Loch Morie,
found high in the hills overlooking the
distillery, to the golden barley of the
rich coastal soils of the Black Isle.
Dalmore Distillery Manager, Ian Mackay
said "We’re very excited to be launching
such a unique experience in the home of
the world’s most revered malt. All the
sights, sounds and smells of the
Dalmore’s distilling process have been
carefully brought to life in this one of
a kind distillery tour. Not only that,
but we’ve taken great care to ensure
that all of our visitors can savour a
dram in the luxurious comfort of our
Custodians' Lounge."
Opening times for the Distillery Visitor
Experience are Monday to Friday 11am –
5pm. Tours can be booked for 11am, 1pm
and 3pm. Bookings can be made in advance
online at thedalmore.com or by calling
01349 882 362.
