Diageo Reserve GB World Class
Competition 2018.

Calling
all bartenders, the closing date for

Class Competition 2018 is fast
approaching. The final date for entries
for this years competition is Friday
30th March so if you have considered

www.TheWorldClassClub.com
The hotly anticipated and world-renowned
bartending competition will commence
with a digital submission of one serve
and will culminate with one of the
biggest competition finals in the
industry, where the UK’s most ambitious
bartenders will come head to head and
battle it out to be crowned GB World
Class Bartender of the Year 2018.
During the competition all keen
contestants will be invited to showcase
their skills in a series of challenges,
formulated to test ability, knowledge
and originality whilst championing their
unique proficiency and telling their own
story. This year, The Resourceful
Bartender and Heat of the Moment are the
two key elements at the heart of The
Closed Loop Cocktails entry challenge.
The Resourceful Bartender focuses on the
significance of sustainability and
resourcefulness, enabling bartenders to
create a better bar, serve and working
environment; while Heat of the Moment
hones in on flavour and experimentation,
delving into culinary influences.
Between 15th February and 30th March,
competitors are invited to submit one
cocktail to Closed Loop Cocktails, which
much comply to both segments executing
sustainability and culinary technique.
The cocktail of choice must include at
least 30ml of any Diageo Reserve spirit
from the World Class portfolio, forming
the foundation of the serve. The full
recipe should be submitted online at
www.TheWorldClassClub.com
The competition will then include three
further stages of comprehensive
challenges. The first, an in-bar judging
process where judges will visit
bartenders across the UK to taste-test
their entry drinks. The judges will then
choose the UK’s top 30, catapulting them
to the semi-finals. This stage of the
competition will identify the UK’s top
ten, leading to the ultimate GB final,
which will take place in June 2018. This
year’s judges include industry experts
from BarLife UK, The Cocktail Lovers and
Difford’s Guide.
This year’s overall winner will be
awarded with a prize package valued at
over £15,000 as well as the coveted
title of GB World Class Bartender of the
Year 2018 and will represent GB in the
Diageo Reserve World Class Global final
hosted in Berlin, later this year.
Nick Temperley, Head of Diageo Reserve
GB comments: "It’s hard to believe that
we have launched what will be the 11th
World Class Competition which marks an
instrumental milestone in the drinks
community. We aim to devise new
challenges and every year we see the
standard of excellence increase.
"As always, we’re looking for bartenders
who demonstrate forward-thinking skills
and vision by pushing the boundaries to
create remarkable serves. By drawing
from current themes in bars across the
UK, marrying together sustainable and
gastronomic influences, we know we’ll
discover those at the top of their
game."
