McDavid and the House of Commons join
forces to celebrate history in a bottle
with the release of Big Ben 35 Year Old
Scotch single grain whisky which was
distilled Cameronbridge Distillery in
1987.

Murray McDavid
and the House of Commons have partnered
to celebrate History in a Bottle.
Tomorrow, 11 July, marks 166 years since
Big Ben’s iconic chimes first rang out
across Westminster in 1859—and what
better way to commemorate that historic
moment than with the re-release of a
whisky as enduring as the tower itself.
Murray McDavid has announced the return
of The Elizabeth Tower, an esteemed 35
year old single grain Scotch whisky,
originally launched in 2022 to celebrate
the completion of the restoration of the
Elizabeth Tower—home to Big Ben.
Hand-selected from Murray McDavid’s
traditional Victorian whisky warehouses
in Speyside, this whisky was distilled
at the renowned Cameronbridge Distillery
in 1987. Matured for 35 years in a
single American oak hogshead, it is said
to have developed a rich, refined
character, offering notes of sweet
caramel, butterscotch, and creamy milk
chocolate.
This release is limited to just 334
bottles—each one a tribute to the 334
steps leading up to the tower’s belfry,
symbolising both the history of the
landmark and the craftsmanship behind
every drop.
"It’s no surprise that the tasting panel
selected this wonderfully elegant single
grain whisky to commemorate the
restoration of such an important
landmark," said Dean Jode, Murray
McDavid’s Head of Whisky Creations.
"It’s a very proud moment for the Murray
McDavid Team to be associated with such
an historically significant project."
