Famous Grouse Marks 30 Years At Number One

27th  May 2010

The Famous Grouse has unveiled a limited edition gift box for the final 1980 bottles of its award-winning 30 year old blended malt.

The exclusive box has been created to mark the brand's 30 year reign as Scotland's favourite whisky, having been the best selling Scotch in its home market since 1980.

The Famous Grouse 30 year old was first released in 2004, forming the jewel in the crown of the brand's blended malt range - a project undertaken by TEG's former master blender, John Ramsay, pictured. Destined to become a collector's item, the precious final bottles each bear a seal confirming that they are one of the last 1980 bottles to be produced, along with a certificate signed by John Ramsay.

Since its release, the whisky has picked up a number of prestigious awards, including gold at the Scotch Whisky Masters Award in 2009, a trophy award at the International Spirits Challenge in 2007 and a gold (best in class) at the International Wine and Spirits competition in 2007.

John added: "The Famous Grouse 30yo was one of the proudest achievements during my career, and I'm pleased to know that these last remaining bottles will receive an extra special farewell."

Gerry O'Donnell, director, The Famous Grouse, commented: "It is a fitting tribute to this exceptional whisky that it has been selected to help celebrate The Famous Grouse's 30th year of being Scotland's favourite whisky."
