I picked up about a month ago when i visited the Laphroaig distillery shop. Seumas behind the bar said it was just out and yet to appear in the shops.

Very true. Honest notes and i guess they must be someone's taste. Maybe Ledaig should add a similar description - Fairy liquid with notes of Mr. Sheen?

The new Laphroaig 18yo which is replacing the 15 is a cracker. Definately a Laphroaig but with some of the complex character of a Lagavulin or Ardbeg Airigh nam Beist.

Picked up one of Ian Macleod's AWGT - the 8yo Islay at cask strength. Any ideas where it's from exactly? I'd guess Lagavullin but am interested in others' thoughts.

Ardbeg Airigh nam Beist is awesome.
Inchgower in the Flora and Fauna range is good if you like a salty malt.
Lagavulin too is superb.

Used to work in the bar with the Gaelic whiskies years ago and always liked the Te Bheag unchilfiltered. The Poit Dhubh malt was nice too.
Worst has to be Ledaig. 'Fairy Liquid' isn't a good tastin ... |
