Glenfiddich Foundation Reserve was a good one!

I thought the Benromach 25 was outstanding oaky, spicy, peat and citrus fruit and a great price for a whisky of this age.
Above all this year the best whisky i had was the Highland Park 25, i new the HP30 was good and thought i would try its youger relative and i am very pleased that i did. Both HPs are excellent though the HP30 would be my choice if price didnt come into it. |

On my limited budget i dont get to taste many of the very expensive drams but the Glenfiddich Foundation Reserve had to be my best whisky of the year thanks to hearing about it here. I doubt i will have another single cask Glenfiddich of this age again.
Other than that a couple that i tried this year which i would say were excellent was Compass Box Spice Tree and Glenmoarangie Sonnalta PX |

| I really enjoyed the Glengoyne 21 year old which i had for the first time this year, i have enjoyed the 17 in the past and really didnt expect the 21 to be so sherried, its my surprise and pick of the year. |

My best whisky of 2011 would be Port Ellen 26 year old Old Malt Cask botting from Douglas Laing bottled in October 2008. I had it in the cabinet for almost 3 years and decided to open it this year and i am very pleased i did, brilliant dram. A lovely sweetness and fruitiness, a bit of salt and heaps of peat smoke, brilliant |

I've enjoyed some great drams this year but I tried two that are common but were new to me. The Glenmorangie 10 Classic and Springbank 10 were truly wonderful suprise bottles for me. I love them both. _________________ Dave |
