What is Aberlour 12 year double cask matured like compared to the 10? worth the £5 extra?
Also what does the Dalwhinnie compare to? saw it in sainsbury and was very tempted...
DavidUK: I saw the Bladnoch on whiskyexchange and it looks interesting though is unfortunately out of my price range...is it similiar to Aberlour? or was that just a recommendation? |
Try looking at Bladnoch's own website. Should be cheaper.
IMO Bladnoch is far superior to Aberlour. And no, it's not really similar, quite different really |

Well I have now gone through half of my Talisker, and thoroughly enjoying it! It certainly has challenged and probably beaten the Clynelish as my favourite whisky...
I am now on the prowl for my next whisky, have stumbled across Mortlach 16 Year randomly and seemed highly praised and is a sherried speyside which sounds similiar to the Aberlour...only prob is it is £40...worth it?
Other whisky's I am considering are Aberlour A'bunadh, Arran 10, Glenmorangie Lasanta 12 Year old/ Sherry Finish...
Got a couple of weeks to decide due to short of cash, but thought I would start looking

| I don't know the Mortlach, looked it up on The Whisky Exchange and it has indeed got rave reviews. One thing to keep in mind is that sometimes whiskies with great customer reviews on sites such as The Whisky Exchange are not exactly favourites if you ask around over here - the Dalmore 15 comes to mind for example. From the ones I have tried, if you're looking for sherried Speyside my favourite is the Balvenie Doublewood - quite rich, smooth and spiced. The Glenmorangie Lasanta is also very good as far as sherried whiskies go, but I do prefer the Balvenie. For the money you're willing to spend the A'bunadh looks like a safer bet since you already like the Aberlour style. |

| The Morthlach 16 Flora & Fauna bottling is a great dram IMO, rich, sherried and a nice bit of spice. The Glenmo Lasanta is also a great dram. I dont think you would be disappointed with either of them. |

To be honest i personally prefer the Arran 10 or the new Arran 14 |

As Andy says the Arran Machrie Moor is a very lightly peated young whisky and very drinkable. I dont think either would disappoint just depends what you would personally prefer. |
