I wonder if Glenfiiddich know that this is what Sainsburys are charging £39.99 for there new whisky which they have recommended should be £30.99 It is quite a markup.

Gregor | That is some mark up, looks like profiteering to me.

Looks like over charging to me as i would doubt they would make a mistake like this and for it to go unnoticed. |

| Perhaps the price has been inflated so that it can look like a great sale in the future. It is obvious the price is wrong as the Glenfiddich 18 year old is cheaper even when they are charging full price for it. |

Hi all
I have contacted Sainsburys asking them why they are charging £39.99 for the Glenfiddich Rich Oak when the RRP is £30.99, they have responded saying they are looking into it and will get back in touch within 2 days.

I would also be interested in there response. I worked it out as just over a 29% markup on the RRP. Why do they need so long to respond I can only guess.

| Are sainsburys the only supermarket to sell the rich oak or are the other big stores just a little slow to stock it ? Maybe thats why sainsburys are putting thier price up..... |

Thats always possible sorren, i believe Tesco were the only outlet to have the Glenfiddich Toasted Oak but that was a Limited Edition release the Rich Oak is part of Glenfiddichs normal range so i would think everyone will have it eventually. Glenfiddichs own online shop has not even got it in stock yet.

I see it is still priced at £39.99 on Sainsburys website, this is clearly wrong considering they sell the 18 year old for £32.98 (on offer at the moment for £27.98) the 15 year old is £32.76 (on offer at the moment for £27.76). Therefore a price of £30.99 for the new rich Oak 14 year old would fit in with there pricing of the other Glenfiddich expressions. Why it should take all this time for them to respond i dont know and meanwhile people could be paying more than they should have to.

I think i have had 5 responses now from various Sainsburys customer care managers saying they will respond within 2 to 3 days, i got another one yesterday. You never know, soon they may actually respond with an answer to why they are charging so much.

Maybe we should contact Tesco and tell them Sainburys pricing policy of charging £9 more than the RRP, i am sure they would love to use it in their advertising.

Just popped into sainsburys and the rich oak is now just over 40 pounds so it seems they will make a little profit times must be hard.... |

It is probably the budget increases being applied. It is still £9 more than the RRP, not sure how long they need to sell it at this infated price before they can have an amazing £££'s off sale. |
