|

England's only whisky distillery will begin selling the first ever peated English malt whisky. The English Whisky Companys Chapter 9 lightly peated malt whisky is set to be released tomorrow Tuesday 8th June.
I had a taste of the Chapter 6 along side the new Chapter 9 last week and have to say ithey were both very enjoyable young whiskies both with delicious young sweet barley notes. The lightly peated Chapter 9 would be my pick of the two probably because the bit of peat adds a bit more character to the young whisky. The future certainly looks good for the English Whisky Company, not sure how much stock of the peated malt they have maturing but i would predict they wont be able to match the demand in the future.

| I have tried the Chapter 6 and found it a very pleasant young whisky and i will certainly try it again in a few years time. Interesting they have done a lightly peated version, i wonder if they also have a heavier peated version to come in the future. |

They had both the Chapter 6 & 9 at the Gordon & Macphail stall at Whisky An A That last week, apparently G&M are distributing it for the English Whisky Company. I tried both and enjoyed them both, as you said William "both very enjoyable young whiskies" but i am not planning on collecting them so just a taste done me for now to give me an insight into whats to come.

| I have a bottle of the Chapter 6, i was actually going to keep it as an investment but curiosity got the better of me as it often does and i opened it a couple of weeks ago. I would agree with your description William, lovely young sweet barley and vanilla. Certainly one to try in a few years but i wouldnt pay what i would consider the collectable price if i was going to drink it, there is much better out there for this money but as i say worth a try again in a few years. |
