A new member of the Caol Ila family of single malt Scotch whiskies has been announced by Diageo. A 25 year old single malt Scotch Whisky is now joining the Caol Ila range.

In 2004 and 2005, limited editions (6000 bottles) of Caol Ila 25 year old were released as part of Diageos Special Release Series, but there has been no 25 year old available since then.

The new Caol Ila 25 year old will initially be available in the UK, the Nordic markets, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, Japan, Taiwan and in travel retail channels in Europe.

The Caol Ila 25 year old Is available at The Whisky Exchange for £133

I must have been misinformed as someone had told me they were short of older stock at Caol Ila, obviously not as they have added this to the core range, so good news. Also not a bad price considering its age and it is from Diageo.

This may explain why the Caol Ila 18 year old has been so hard to come by recently, they have been giving it an extra few years in the barrel so they can knock it out as a 25 year old.

I wonder how it compares to the Port Askaig 25 Year Old from The Whisky Exchange which i thought was very good for the money, about £70 i payed if i remember correctly. I may have to get a bottle before i finish my Port Askaig bottling.
