Lord Robertson has donated his special cask of Ardbeg whisky to the veterans charity Erskine. Lord Robertson received the cask 10 years ago when he was Secretary General of NATO.
Proceeds from the sale of this special bottling of Ardbeg will go to the ex-Services' charity, Erskine, which i am sure you will all agree is a very worthy cause. Erskine helps re-build shattered lives, restoring dignity and providing first-class care to ex-Service men and women both young. Erskine has an unrivalled reputation from its five care homes across Scotland. In the past year the charity has cared for 1370 veterans between the ages of 24 to 102. For more info on Erskine or to make a donation visit their website www.erskine.org.uk
The proceeds from the sale of this cask will be donated to the charity. 202 bottles have been signed by Lord Robertson of Port Ellen and will go on sale at the Ardbeg Distillery Visitor Centre and website from 7 July priced at £220 per bottle.

I agree a very good cause. I just had a look at Ardbegs website, as you would expect it is limited to 1 bottle of Ardbeg Lord Robertson single cask each so but if anyone wants a bottle i would nt hang around tomorrow.
Anyway here is the tasting note from the Ardbeg site:
The whisky has a superb complexity and incredible finesse and balance. The peat is sophisticated and sweet with chocolate and toffee, smoky violets and creamy meringue with cherry pie, clove and star anise. The palate is dark and deep yet also sensuous and gentle - peat smoke, sweet barley and cocoa.
It is listed in the Ardbeg shop but not sure what time tomorrow the Add To Basket button will appear on the site. |

Yes a very deserving cause.
Abit off the topic but I just noticed in the Ardbeg shop that they are giving away a complimentary BIG GLASS when you buy a bottle of Ardbeg 10, perhaps they are having trouble selling it at £37.99 plus postage. I think the glass is normally a fiver.

| I thought the Lord Robertson whisky would sell out quickly with it being a single cask bottling and being for such a good cause. |

| You have got to wonder if all bids are genuine now especially after someone got done recently for bidding on their own auction on ebay. |

The original £220 price tag for this whisky was high for such a young whisky but it was for a very good cause, so it was a justified price tag.
To pay £390 plus for it to benefit some profiteer on eBay, that is just wrong especially considering what the profit from this whisky was supposed to benefit. |

| I very much doubt that the seller will be making a nice donation to Erskine but you never know. |

| Still no more bids in almost 24 hours now, very strange given the high interest to take the bidding up to £390 |
