| 68.6%, that will have some kick. Pity you can only get it at the distillery. |

When did ardbeg start filling whisky into casks at such a high strength, is this a sign of things to come |

I am sure this will be very collectable indeed. I think a drop of water may be needed in this one |

| Just checked the online shop and it is not listed, well at least not yet. I am sure this will be a beast of a whisky. |

| the only thing i have tasted around this strength is new make spirit but this is i assume 10 or 11 years old whisky. Perhaps they have been experimenting with filling casks with higher % strength spirit to see if they can get more whisky of the same quality after 10 years once they reduce the % alcohol. |

It seems its only available at the distillery and if you can't get there over the phone, postage is £11.50!

Cheers R
They may be trying to avoid the usual website crash. Quite a lot for an 10/11 year old single cask Ardbeg especially when you add the 11.50 postage. Still i am very tempted. |

It will probably be a good investment but my problem is i keep opening my investments.
I will have to give it a bit of thought as i can get a couple of Corryvreckans for this price |

although I and a few others have been told it was 68% i'm aware that information provided by the distillery may be incorrect, and that 58% which is more likely will be the abv.

R | I did wonder if the abv was correct as i thought if ardbeg had been filling casks at a higher than normal strength we may have heard about it before now. |

| 68.6% i thought it was to good to be true, still a good investment though even at £125. It seems any limited edition Ardbeg cant fail to increase in value it is one of thise sure thing brands IMO. |

| Even at 58% i am sure it will still sell but it does seem that ardbeg now know limited release single cask whiskies such as this will be collectable and multiply in value so they are now having a bit of that action by charging these big numbers on release for not very old single cask whisky. They have certainly cut the investors profit but the poor drinker like me is getting priced out the market. |

Just thought i would update this, the Ardbeg 1999 was a first fill bourbon which went on sale 4pm on Friday last week and sold out yesterday (Wednesday 22nd Sept) at 4pm, there was only 220 bottles and cost £125 and the abv was defintiely 58.6%

Still seems expensive. I have a SMWS bottling from Ardbeg which is 10 years old and single cask bottled at 56.5% from a limited bottling of 254 bottles and paid £56. The only bottles that fetch over £100 from the SMWS are usually single casks of 25 - 36 years old, of exceptional quality.
Makes being a member worth every penny I guess. _________________ Rob Hughes
