You may have heard about this one already as i have been a bit slow posting about it.
Glenfiddich has announced the launch of Snow Phoenix - a unique whisky born of chance and adversity, which commemorates a moment of drama in Glenfiddich's long history.
In January 2010, after weeks of heavy snow and record low temperatures, four feet of densely compacted snow covered the Glenfiddich distillery roofs, which housed hundreds of casks of fine aged whisky, gently maturing in semi-darkness.
On the evening of 7th January, in the most remote part of the distillery estate, a number of warehouse roofs dramatically collapsed under the weight, leaving the maturing oak casks exposed to the night sky. In wintery conditions and temperatures of -19˚C, distillery staff swung into action, working round the clock to clear the snow.
Anyway to cut a long story short the Glenfiddich Snow Phoenix was born from the warehouse collapse.
Available in selected markets from mid-November, 47.6% ABV, non chilfiltered, priced £49.99 RRP for a 70cl bottle.
I did mean to give this a try at The Whisky Show at the the weekend but didnt get around to it, only one liver and so many whiskies. The feedback i have heard is it is very good indeed. I will give you my own feedback on it when i have tasted it myself.
For more info on it, the producers tasting notes and an image of the bottle see here:

| Hi William it does look good, i got a taste of this at the whisky show and it is very good indeed. In fact i would say the producers tasting notes you have posted are a very accurate description - creamy vanilla, apple and pears, sweet burnt sugar. I loved it, even amongst all those ultra premium drams at the whisky show it was a memorable dram. |

| I think i will have a bottle of this, Glenfiddich does seem to release some decent limited release whiskies which dont bust the bank, wish they would do another toasted oak. Anyway i will give this a go when they release it. |
