Maltheads United is an idea which arouse in the 4 German whisky forums almost two years ago. 4 people talking about the idea to enjoy some drams together at a bonfire, right in the middle of nowhere (nature).
The idea grew and soon we wanted to bring all the maltheads together just to get us to know personally, chatting away on our favourite subject malt whisky (yes, and even drink this awful stuff:):and no: it's a private gathering, no commercial one !!!

Maltheads United I started with only 35 people last June in Geretsried, Bavaria, but was, nevertheless, a huge success, though it had been raining 3 days in a row.

Maltheads United II will take place from June 17th - June 19th, 2011.
It will, most definitely, be bigger than the first event last June. Bigger means: a bigger place and it's situated more centered in the midst of Germany near Darmstadt (Frankfurt).
Roßdorf/Germany is not even quite like Geretsried/Bavaria.

As for next year we expect about 100 people (Germany only). But: we want to become it an even bigger event and therefore invite the whisky enthusiasts from all over Europe (NL, B, Lux, CH, A, DK, UK:)

Plannings have only just begun. Mistakes of the past have been analysed, slight changes have been made but the meaning of this meeting will stay untouched !

Infrastructure allows us to organize more tastings and this time we'll also be able to take advantage of the outer areas and surroundings (no, it WILL NOT rain three days in a row as last June )

Our program isn't ready in all details, planning will be going on until next spring, but one thing is for sure right now: we're going to have big fun and a great time !!!!!

I thought for a minute the forum had formed a football team "Maltheads United".

Sounds like a fun event Tom. I think there is a similar sort of event in Holland which has being going a few years now, the name of it escapes me at the moment.

The event in Holland is called maltstock, and yes, it's similar but not quite the same as we "refuse" to invite retailers etc. They are welcome as private guests, though.

Hi folks

most of the planning has been done so let me renew my invitation for Maltheads United next June.
The event takes place in Roßdorf (near Darmstadt / Frankfurt) in Germany.

All malt enthusiasts are more than welcome.
Our webiste is ready where you can book the event.
Unfortunately it's still only in German, so if there are any people here who'd like to know more: do not hesitate to message me !
