HI everyone, i am looking for a bit of advice before i purchase some whisky for a christmas gift. I am considering the Glenfiddich 30 year old plus the Glenfiddich 21 year old. I know the person i am buying for always drinks Glenfiddich and i already know he likes the 21 year old but has never had the 30 year old. I just wondered do you think the 30 year old is good and worth £210 or is there much better for that kind of money.
Hi Sarah both the Glenfiddich 21 and 30 year old are excellent malts. The 21 is great whisky for the money and the 30 year is excellent i wouldnt hesitate to recommend any of them. Glenfiddich released a new bottling of the 30 year old this year which is bottled at a higher strenth of 43% and comes in a lovely luxurious looking box which looks great when given as a gift. I would love to receive it as a gift.
The Glenfiddich 30 is excellnet IMO, only had the one bottle which i received as a special gift but i wouldnt hesitate to recommend it. As Charlie says go for the new 2010 bottling with the higher ABV and it comes in a lovely box which gives it a more luxutious look when given as a gift but i am a sucker for packaging.
Sarah I wouldnt say there is much better for around £200 just different. I have tried the Glenfiddich 30 and it is a quality whisky that any whisky drinker would love. As with any whisky of this age a lot of the price tag is for the rarity of the spirit. If he already likes Glenfiddich then this will be a very special gift.
Thanks so much for all your replies, i think i will get him the Glenfiddich 30 year old, i just wanted to confirm that it was considered to be a good whisky before buying. Charlie thanks also for the tip on the new 2010 version with the nice presentation box.
