Apologies if this has been discussed before, i love Smokehead Islay single malt but wondered which distillery others think it was produced in. I have almost convinced myself it is a young Ardbeg. What do you think it is |

| I agree a great whisky but i doubt Ian Macleod will ever reveal what is in the bottle. Pesonally i thought it was a young Lagavulin. |

| I like to think it is a young Ardbeg but it really could be any one of them, perhaps a heavier peated Bunna or a Port Charlotte lstyle Laddie. As you say Fergie we will never know but the mystery is part of the enjoyment. |

| A while since i have had it but i did think Lagavulin but then talked myself ot that idea, why would diageo sell on any Lagavulin or for that mater why would Ardbeg need to sell any of its stock of whisky to make quick money when they can botle it themselves and make more money. A "a heavier peated Bunna or a Port Charlotte style Laddie" like Alastair says seems quite likely. |

| I dont think we will ever know what it is but i am sure each time this discussion comes up it promotes the whisky and why not it is a great dram. By the way it is Ardbeg of course. |

I voted Caol Ila as nobody had voted for it yet My point is it could have came from any of them, any of them could have done a heavily peated batch especially for Ian Macleod. |

| The Smokehead 18 is supposed to be from the same distillery as the Smokehead so i couldnt see Ardbeg or Lagavulin selling 18 year old whisky to an independent bottler. |
