|
|
I love opening a nice bottle or 2 on xmas day each year and just wondered if anyone else plans the same. This year I've got an independent bottle of linkwood 1986 and some Highland Park 18 to crack out, yum! My brother is also getting me a bottle of the English Whisky Co. chapter 9 which I am looking forward to trying, maybe save that for new years !
Feel free to post any whisky related xmas plans/traditions! |

It has become kind of traditional with me to buy myself a bottle that i have never had before to open on Christmas Day, not sure yet what that is going to be but i think i should decide soon as not long to go now |

I plan on emptying the supermarkets of their top offers, i usually stock up on 20 -30 bottles this time of year depending what the offers are but Asda looks the best at the moment with 25% off all malt whisky.
Then i am going for a few bottles i know that i really enjoy which i havent had for ages they are:
Talisker 18
Glenfarclas 15 and perhaps the Glenfarclas 21 also
Ardbeg Uigeadail
Glenlivet Nadurra
Then my special bottle i am going for the Balvenie 30 |

I've got all the bottles I want for now - gradually amassed them from bargains over the past couple of months or so. I'll be opening Talisker 18 and Highland Park 18 - I've still never had the latter so I'm really looking forward to it!
Also, not whisky-related but I'll also be opening a nice bottle of Croizet XO cognac, which I received as a gift a while ago. |

Getting myself a bottle of Macallan 18 as it has been a few years since i have had a bottle probably out of protest because of the price of it but have decided to get a bottle for christmas.
Also getting a bottle of Glenmorangie Signet which i find simply delicious so i doubt this will see the new year after i open it and share it with visitors on christmas.
Others i am going for are:
Lagavulin 12 year old 2010 10th release
Ardbeg Uigeadail
Ardbeg Corryvreckan
The new Arran 14 year old |

I need to get my finger out and place my christmas order this week. So far I am considering getting:
Laphroaig Triple Wood as i have never had it.
Glen Garioch 1991 not had this either and have heard good things about it.
Compass Box Flaming Heart 10th Anniversary tried it at a tasting so i want a bottle.
Bunnahabhain 12 the new 46.3% non chilfitered bottle
Bunnahabhain 1975 35 year old still considering this one may change my mind
Talisker 18
Talisker 25 special release but not sure which one to get
Macallan 18 Sherry Oak
Glenfarclas 15 & 21 or may go for the 30 |

I have had quite a few of these and all have been excellent IMO personally i would choose any from these 3 - 2005, 2008 , 2009 with the 2008 bottling being my top choice. |

I've been so tempted by these for a while, as I love Talisker 10, DE and 18. But with several large purchases recently and an already large Scotch collection, I am not sure the wife would be happy if I spent that much on a single bottle.
Maybe I'll buy one in the New Year!
For Christmas this year I got a 16 year old single cask Caol Ila, an amazing 10 year old single cask Ardbeg (simply gorgeous), and a Talisker Distillers Edition. _________________ Rob Hughes

After a week of being on call, Christmas morning will see the unwrapping of a Macallan fine oak 10 yr (courtesy Tesco's via my wife, who enjoys the odd dram, too)...
First time I will have tasted this malt, believe it or not...
(it's the sheltered life I lead in London - I'm road based and have been since '83 so rarely drink)

| Kenny i am sure you wont be disappointed the Macallan Fine Oak 10 is a quality dram. A buttery, and piney nose and lovely smooth silky honey sweet light oak in the mouth. Very easy to drink. |

I have just ordered a bottle of Glenfiddich Snow Phoenix which I will attempt to save until Christmas Day but knowing me it won't make it intact, lol.
