We all read what the whisky experts declare as the best whisky of the year but i wondered what was the best whisky you have tasted this year
If you cant narrow it down to a single bottle then just name all you thought was outstanding.
For me, this year my top whiskies have been Ardbeg Corryvreckan, Ardbeg Supernova 2010 |

There are many that I have tried this year that I have been impressed with, the Aberlour A'bunadh, Glenlivet Nadura and Compass Box's The Peat Monster are the ones that come to mind and have become staples in my drinking collection

| One of the outstanding whiskies i have had this year was the Brora 25 year old Diageo 2008 special release. I had it in the collection but decided to open it this year and i wasnt disappointed, excellent. |

| Some that stood out for me this year are the Glenfarclas 1979 Family Casks. The new Bunnahabhain 12, well done to Bunna for the huge improvement with this. Arran Peacock was very good which surprised me as i havent really tried much from Arran. |

I had a try of The Macallan's 'Oscuro' from their 1824 range and thought it was rather special. Shame you can only get it in Duty Free at airports...
Wonderful colour, texture and flavour. Hope more people can have a taste of it soon _________________ All the best,

Also, got an early Christmas present of the Dalmore 15yo... wonderful whisky and very reasonably priced indeed. Such a smooth taste and lingering finish Will definitely be making a regular appearance in the drinks cabinet in 2011 _________________ All the best,

I love the Balvenie 21 portwood also, a bottle never lasts me long when i open one. I had a bottle of the Balvenie 30 a few months ago, excellent.
I was looking at a vintage bottling of the Balvenie 1968 32 Year Old at christmas in The Whisky Exchange but spent my money elsewhere. It was around £600 but these vintage Balvenies seem to do very well as an investment. |

| best whisky ive had all year was a bottle of highland park 1990 (19 years old) independent single cask bottling at 46% ABV. was superb. As far as distillery bottlings go its been a drab year, not tried a great deal new ones so I'd give it to Balvenie Signature - Speyside Whisky at its very best. |

I would have to say that the best whisky I tried this year, is a special 25 year old Talisker that I had in the Vitners Rooms. Quite pricey at £20 a dram, but simply amazing. The best whisky I bought a bottle of though would have to be a recent 10 year old Ardbeg single cask from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, called Chocolate Caviar. Shame it's all gone though. _________________ Rob Hughes
