The UK Government's proposal to ban alcohol sales below excise duty and VAT in England and Wales has been welcomed by The Scotch Whisky Association.

It seems to me that this measure is an effort to combat binge drinking (or is it just an effort to raise more money for the government) but the alcohol products which is the typical drink of the binge drinker are still way under taxed in relation to the tax on whisky.
Is this measure going to have any effect other than raising more money for the government? No i very much doubt it. |
