Hi guys,
was just in my local tescos and noticed dalwhinnie is £8 off! 21.98! bargain for me as I think this is possibly the greatest value for money drinking whisky out there. sure I love islay malts but they are more of an experience, dalwhinnie is a superbly balanced single malt whisky!
Offer ends 01/02/2011. I sourced 4 bottles, ought to see the winter out! |

This is a very good price for the Dalwhinnie 15. I was considering trying the Dalwhinnie Distillers Edition, anyone had it? Any good, is it worth a try?

Harvey there is no surprises with the Dalwhinnie Distillers Edition, it was what i expected from a Dalwhinnie finnished in oloroso sherry casks. Very enjoyable, the sherry casks adds an extra fruity sweetness, the sherry does dampen the honey a bit. Certainly worth a try but if i was to express a preference between the 2 i would take the standard Dalwhinnie 15 although it is good to have tried the distillers edition expression. Others may prefer the DE bottling, just down to personal taste i suppose.

I agree with Andy, the Dalwhinnie DE is a very pleasant and drinkable whisky, but ultimately I too prefer the standard 15.

All the distillers edition series were good but the 2 i liked most were Lagavulin and Talisker distillers edition. Although I never tried the Royal Lochnagar or Glenkinchie so cant comment on those.
