£100 to spend, 2 bottles of Malt to buy, what do you do??

Hi guys,

I am actually going to do this as my stocks are low (only ardmore, english whisky and laphroiag open) and I'm hoping to be celebrating a new job or at least drowning my misery at the lost opportunity! Currently i'm thinking a Balvenie 15YO single barrel @ £43 and an Ardbeg 10/uig/corry for the rest of it but i'm open and easily temped to any ideas based on what you guys would do!

so basically, If you had £100 and you had to buy 2 bottles of single malt then what would you buy?

If i had £100 to spend today i'd be going for the Glengoyne 21yo as that's next on my wish list. However, that would use up almost all your budget.

So hypothetically, based on what im enjoying at the moment and aiming to get a nice little mix of malts, i'd probably opt for something like...

Glenfarclas 15yo (£35)
Ardbeg 10yo (£35)
Glengoyne 10yo or Arran 14yo (£30-£35)

I know that's 3. If only two probably still the Glenfarclas and maybe the Ueigadail with £15 change (which could get you a half of johnnie walker black!)

How about Balvenie 21 YO Portwood and a Talisker 10. That would be my choice!

Hmm, so many tempting combinations! I'd go for Talisker 18 and Balvenie 15 Single Barrel.

Or I'd just try to get as many of my (cheaper) favourites as possible, so something like: Talisker 10, Laphroaig Quarter Cask, Glenfiddich 15 and Highland Park 12.

If you havent had Ardbeg Uigeadail then i would say it is a must try quality whisky as is the Corryvreckan but my pick is the Uigeadail betweeen the 2 of them but you could always get both to compare. Have you tried the Glenlivet Nadurra 16 year old, it is also excellent. In fact all the whiskies the others have mentioned are very good also i suppose it just depends what you are in the mood for.

Talisker 18 is a great shout and £50 on TWE seems like a bargain

not going to decide for a week or 2 so keep the ideas rolling in! What would you do?!

Can you go slightly over-budget? If so, you can get Talisker 18 and Highland Park 18 for around £106 from The Whisky Exchange.

Like SkyeIslay, if I had £100 to spend on whisky in one go I'd be torn between two special ones like the above or 3-4 more affordable favourites. My alternative list would also feature Talisker 10, along with Macallan 10, Laphroaig 10 (or Quarter Cask, which I only recently tried and came to love) and Old Pulteney 12.

Ye I can go slightly over budget!

I know I could buy more bottles but 2010 was a bit of standard whisky year for me - I only really bought and drank what supermarkets had so I thought i'd move to the next step and get a few different ones in. 2 for £100! bargain!

Fair enough - in that case I'll stick with the Talisker & Highland Park 18s pick! Although, like you I'd also be tempted to try one of the more special Ardbegs, as I've only had the 10 before.

Then I would recommend the Talisker 18 (which is an amazing and very classy dram), and the Ardbeg Uigeadail, which is a very good contrast to the Talisker, and also something very special. Smoke, sherry, and at cask strength to boot.

Any Bladnoch at cask strength, plus the new 46-3% Bunnahabhain, and you will still have around £25 change
