Hi guys,
just moved up to dalkeith for a job. close to edinburgh. Good opportunity to further my whisky 'career' and my talent on the golf course....
I know Glenkinchie distillery isnt far just wondered if you know any good shops/musems/pubs for whisky in the city!
cheers,
Tom |

| Have you considered membership of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. If i was near Edinburgh it would be something i would consider. |

| You would have the advantage of being able to visit SMWS venues in Leith or Edinburgh i believe they both have members bars and serve food and i think they do tastings also. The SMWS website should have all the info. I am not sure perhaps non members can also get into the bar, maybe a good idea to see what you think before joining. |

I am a member of the SMWS and the venues are great. I personally go to their Leith venue, and it's a fantastic place to sample all kinds of whisky, and the food is fabulous too, as well as being exceptional value. You can also sign in up to 4 guests, who can also buy bottles whilst at the venue.
The biggest advantage is that each single cask bottling is individual and isn't around for long, being able to sample them all dram by dram means you can always be sure you get a bottle that you like.
Also, underneath the Leith venue is the Vitners Rooms, which is a very up market restaurant, with the largest private collection of whiskies in Europe, some dating back to 1902! All of them are available to buy by the dram, and they have a menu just for the whiskies! Check them out at www.vitnersrooms.com - well worth the visit. _________________ Rob Hughes
