Hi there
a friend of mine and myself just started a cask share in the German whisky forums.
It's a complete cask (258 bottles) of a Caol Ila 12y in cask strength (and very peaty)
I do not know if I am allowed to post it here, too. If so I'll provide further details.
You can also find this appeal tonight on whiskybase.

Hi folks,
the pictures and reports of the terrible earth-quake and tsunami in Japan have certainly struck you, too. One of the largest earth-quakes ever and a devastating tsunami destroyed towns and villages and flattened and ruined whole areas. Thousands of people died and hundreds of thousands in the most severely affected areas in the North of the main island of Honshu have lost everything. Japan is surely a rich industrial nation well capable of coping with the aftermath of such a catastrophe, but nevertheless those at the end of the social chain will receive aid only at the very end. Therefore, we decided to start a charity cask sharing for the victims in Japan similar to the one for Haiti.
(you can find this appeal from February 2010 on whiskybase, too)
We as Whisky lovers would also like to send a signal of solidarity to the Whisky nation of Japan.
To this end we contacted Maggie and Bill Miller from the SSMC (Scotch Single Malt Circle, an independent bottler and club from Germany) , who supported us immediately by providing a cask for this campaign. Originally we planned to share a cask of Japanese whisky, however, there are no casks of Japanese distilleries available on the market or elsewhere, so it will be a Scottish Single Malt whisky, but also from an Island, namely Islay. We share a
Caol Ila 1999
59,3% Vol.
Bourbon Hogshead
258 bottles
The whisky will come in a standard SSMC-bottle with information on the charity bottling provided on the label. The regular price per bottle is £40 and for this special purpose we add £8 so that the final price will be £48. Maggie Miller agreed to donate another £8 per bottle, thank you for that, Maggie! With approx. 250 bottles we will thus be able to raise about £4.000 altogether. The Caol Ila cask will be in Germany by the end of April, beginning of May and we will then ship the bottles as soon as we get them.
The so collected funds will be donated and the receipt will be posted here. Right at the moment we do not yet know where best to donate the money, as currently due to the confused situation in the most affected areas no projects have been identified that can be directly supported. If there is anyone with a contact to Japan we would be happy to hear the proposals.
feel free to contact me, this is NO COMMERCIAL appeal
