Does anyone know where I can find a list of the best-selling single malts in the UK? (and the rest of the world if possible) Just curious... I know that Glenmorangie has been the best-selling one in the UK - or was it overtaken by Glenfiddich? - but not much other than that.

I don't have the exact answer but the world whisky index ranks the best selling malts in terms of auctions, results are often published in the back of whiskymag.

There was an article that William posted on here a while back and it listed the top 100 best selling spirits in the world, but typical you cant find something when you are looking for it. I am sure Jack Daniels was the best selling whiskey and Johnnie Walker the best selling Scotch whisky.

Mac, i think you may be referring to this article about "The Power 100 Survey" which i psoted about a year ago
www.scotchmaltwhisky.co.uk/whiskypower100.htm

here is a screen print of the top whisky brands

As you can see Scotland does do rather well in the worlds spirit market. Very Happy

The list actually takes a lot of things into consideration and of course it is a year out of date, so it is bound to have changed given the increasing popularity of whisky.

The top 10 brands out of all spirit brands was:
    1 Smirnoff
    2 Johnnie Walker
    3 Bacardi
    4 Martini Vermouth
    5 Hennessy
    6 Jack Daniel's
    7 Absolut
    8 Chivas Regal
    9 Captain Morgan
    10 Ballantine's

No surprise Smirnoff vodka is No1. I see Canadian whisky does well in this list, i suppose there big market would be America.

what i notice about the list is the Scotch whisky brands that do very well overseas but we rarely see (if ever) here in Scotland. Such as William Lawsons, 100 Pipers, Clan MacGregor. I suppose it demonstrates how different countries have different tastes, hence certain styles of whisky do well in certain markets.
