Hi this is my first post...

I have recently used whisky exchange and whisky finder to price my small 35 bottles, but growing collection, and was astonished to see the value of some of my 'lucky' buys..

The whiskies I can't seem to find prices for are:-

Glenmoranige 'Chinkapin'
Aberlour 10 Year old VOHM / 1980s
Lagavulin 1988 Distiller's Edition
Balvenie 1973 .

I have some more that maybe someone could help me with?

thanks

Steve

I just looked in The Whisky Exchange and they have the Glenmorangie and Aberlour
Glenmoranige 'Chinkapin' - £499
Aberlour 10 Year old VOHM / 1980s - £250

Lagavulin 1988 Distiller's Edition - I would estimate about £120
Balvenie 1973 - I would estimate £300 - £500

The Lagavulin and Balvenie prices are just my opinion so i may be way out.

Thanks for your answer, I saw the price also for Chinkapin, but have found out that it is not available actually, and on most sites it says the same, so maybe worth more?

Can anyone recommend an insurance for such items as my House and Contents won't cover it...

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve and welcome to the SMW forum

For insurance purposes i would be valuing the bottles at the current shop prices but if you are looking to sell the bottles in a private sale you may only get half of what the shop prices are, just depends on the bottle, some fetch close to the shop price in a private sale some get nowhere near the shop price.
