For this price i would be looking for a more limited release, single cask, cask strength whisky. i am sure they will still sell it ok but not for me.

and I thought the English Whisky Co. charging 40 + for there 3 year old stock when it came out was too steep!

frankly, this is ludicrous! I't will sell to collectors though but 50cl and that price !

If they want big money they should have done 5 single cask releases of 700ml cask strength bottles. I dont think they will win any fans with this release at this price.

Very surprised and disappointed with the £150 price tag. St George, Arran and Kilchoman were in the same position in recent years and didnt ask this sort of money with there first releases.

Out of my price range for drinkable whisky and i dont think it will make you much profit as a collectable whisky at this price unless you plan on tucking it away for 10 years plus. If anyone does get a taste of it i wouldnt mind hearing what they think of it.

I guess they are holding back cask no 1 & 3 for future releases.

There is nothing more the distillery would like than to let everyone have a taste of the first Single Malt, why wouldn't we? We are proud of what we have, it is special and we would delight in sharing it with everyone. The first Outer Hebridean Single Malt, the first Abhainn Dearg Single Malt, whisky history.

What has been released is a one off special release there are only 2011 bottles, that's it! The distillery now has to get to 5 years before a general release can be achieved, for all to enjoy.

We are frequently held in a branding comparison match, where we have no chance of competing. Those folk that have visited us know just how small and remote we are and although growth is planned, we will stick to traditional distilling on a small scale. For the moment this is a game of survival.

I can appreciate what a big investment it is to start up and not have any money really coming in but i am sure whoever is behind Abhainn Dearg was aware it would be a number of years before any profit was made.

I shall look forward to the general release in a couple of years time. Jude i cant see any tasting notes on the Abhainn Dearg website to give us an insite into what style of whisky to expect in the future, have you tasted in yourself, if so what did you think?

I think it's something special, but then I would be biased. Marko is away till the weekend, but I will try and get an independent review up for you by early next week. Just need to get over to Uig with a willing volunteer
