After organising two very successful Whisky Shows in London in 2009 & 2010, The Whisky Exchange has dissolved their partnership with their co-founder GW Publishing.

This year, The Whisky Exchange will be hosting their own brand new event

The Whisky Exchange WHISKY SHOW
at Vinopolis on Fri 7th - Sat 8th October 2011

Visit The Whisky Exchange Whisky Show website for more info:
www.whisky-show.com

It is yet to be confirmed whether the original Whisky Show will go ahead in 2011 but if it does The Whisky Exchange will not be involved with it in any way. I believe it had been scheduled for Fri 28th - Sat 29th Oct 2011 and i also believe they had also started selling tickets for it

I always considered it a TWE event anyway. I think both shows will struggle to survive so close together even in London. As i said i always considered it a TWE event and if i was to choose that would be the one i would attend.

It looks like the original Whisky Show is no more. The whisky show website www.thewhiskyshow.com has been removed and replaced by a page promoting The Whisky Kitchen cook book.

The exibitors may not want to go to 2 shows so close together in the same place and i am sure if they had to choose they would go with the one who sells the whisky "TWE". As Acker says it looks like the original Whisky Show is no more going by there website so it looks like both exibitors and show goers wont have to choose.

It is odd that the whisky show website has disappeared without trace, at least they could post a notice informing people what is going on.

The Whisky Show site seems to be back again abeit for last years 2010 show they seem to have dropped the Whisky Kitchen page. The site now states:
Quote:
The Whisky Exchange will NOT be organising The Whisky Show 2011 or attending the proposed event, if it goes ahead, either as retail partners or in any other capacity.

The Whisky Exchange will instead be hosting The Whisky Exchange WHISKY SHOW at Vinopolis near Borough Market on 7th-8th October. More details are available at the NEW WEBSITE:

For many the big cost of these whisky shows in London is travel, food and accommodation costs. These costs alone never mind the ticket price would buy you some nice bottles of whisky but many think it is worth it considering the whiskies available to sample at the shows. I dont think many will fork this amount of money to attend both shows. Even Londoners may only go to one of the shows since they are so close together.

but the question is which show to attend?
I have been to the 2009 & 2010 original whisky shows, but will Grahams be any good without The Whisky Exchange or will theirs be better. Currently only the original site lists some exhibitors. What are your thoughts?

If both can sell the tickets and attract the same class of whisky drinker as the 2009 & 2010 shows did then i think the exibitors will show up for both shows but the question is will there be enough interest for both shows. If i lived in the London area i would attend both quite happily but the total cost of attending both shows would buy me a lot of nice whisky so i will have to choose between the shows. As the format of both shows are basically the same for me it will boil down to the list exibitors at each show.

I would think the one that sells the most whisky for the whisky companies will be the one the exibitors are sure to turn out for, namely TWE

I would guess many will hold off from buying tickets until a list of exibitors is made available. I dont think those who have attended any of the previous shows would be happy if they bought a ticket and the list of exibitors was less than what it has been in the previous shows

I see the original whisky shows site now says
Quote:
From 2011 The Whisky Show will be working with over a dozen highly reputable whisky retailers rather than just one.
Not really sure what that means though, will there be a dozen whisky retailers stalls at The Whisky Show 2011
