I have a 70 bottle whisky collection I want to sell could anyone tell me the best place to start I have been collection about 20 years and I think I have some good whisky. I have spoken to a internet shop but the price he has offered seems very low on many of the bottles.
Just to name a few
Macallans Anniversary
Glenturret 1966
Johnnie Walker Excelsior
Johnnie Waker Quest blue box
Macallan 30 year Sherry cast
As you can see I need a trustworthy person or company.
Thanks
Bill

Bill , you could contact Bonhams auction in Edinburgh or McTears auctioneers in Glasgow, they both specialise in whisky and hold a few whisky auctions a year.

They are usually quite helpful, they both have a website which you can contact them through. No need to visit them.

Here is the link to Bonhams:

Mctears:

Another option is ebay which can sometimes be the quickest and most profitable option. You could also try contacting some specialist whisky shops such as The Whisky Exchange they may make you an offer for your bottles

Bill whisky shops probably will only offer you around 50% of the price you may see the bottles selling for in the shop. Bare in mind that the price you see bottles selling for in a shop include 20% vat as well as the shop mark as they need to make a profit.

Dont forget at auction there will be auction fees and vat to pay.

ebay isoften the most profitable auction, just be sure to set a reserve price that you would be willing to accept.

Just to add to the previous posts - also scotchwhiskyauctions.com seems to be going well about to enter their 6th auction with prices much higher than all other auctions even Ebay at times - check out the prices. Ebay would be my preferred route if you aren't in a hurry as fees are lower and prices higher.

I just had auctioned 2 bottles on ebay and both have gone missing somewhere in the post. what a nightmare....

has anyone had similiar experiences?

I have sent them a registered mail but that would only work in the UK but not to other countries.

Is there any other way to ensure secure arrival than DHL, Feedex etc? as this costs a fortune to ship single malt bottles.
