Bowmore have launched the Bowmore Tempest Batch 3. This third batch just like the two that came before it is non chill-filtered and has been aged for 10 years in first-fill bourbon casks.
I first tasted the Bowmore Tempest at The Whisky Show London in 2009 and then went straight out and bought myself a bottle. The 2nd batch was equally as impressive as the first batch.
Just tried Batch 3 tonight for the first time and it is as good as the first 2 releases. It is non chill-filtered, 10 years in first-fill bourbon casks and bottled at 55.6% ABV.
It is a limited edition release with only 1,850 cases available worldwide. The RRP is £49.99 in the UK but if you head over to The Whisky Exchange you will find it is currently only £40.95, which is a decent price for a limited release of this quality. Not sure how long Bowmore intend the Tempest seires to go on for but i am toldthere will be a batch 4 in 2012.
I only recently got a bottle of the Batch 2, LCBO were selling it of for $ 73.95 excellent whisky and the best Bowmore for me next to the 15 year old Darkest. Thinking of picking up a second bottle of the batch 2 before it disappears, hopefully we get the new Tempest batch 3
