This one has tempted me in my last few visits to Tesco but haven't triet it yet. I don't see it discussed often so I'd like some opinions on it. I don't really have any whisky budget left until Christmas and I keep buying bottles from the same distilleries (i.e. what comes on offer in the supermarkets), so I'd like something new next, which is why I don't necessarily want to spend money on another Balvenie.

I should point out that I really love the Doublewood so it's unlikely I'd be disappointed with any Balvenie, but I guess the question is - is the Signature sufficiently different from the Doublewood to merit me spending even more money on whisky? Is it as good in your opinion?

I am sure you will like the Balvenie Signature Alex, it is an excellent dram. I would guess the reason you dont hear the Signature mentioned as often as the Doublewood is the DW is found on offer more often.

The Signature is a lovely rich honeyed malt with a hint of sherry and a bit of oak and spice. With a lot less sherry influence than the DW it is a different malt, if you have the cash go for it but remember it will be on offer againin the future i would think

The Signature is a great dram, yes it is a close relative to the Doublewood but it is a different whisky.

It is a cracking dram and probably my favourite 'supermarket' malt. As Archer said it is less sherried than the DW and thats why I like it, superb quality. I almost always buy it when it creeps under £30 ! All Balvenies are class, ive had the single barrel, portwood and golden cask

Everything i have had from the Balvenie has been excellent, i always have a bottle of both the Signature and Doublewood on the go. I have no doubt you will enjoy the Signature Alex.

Love to treat myself to the portwood 21 every once and a while. I wish the the 30 was priced more for drinking, had 1 bottle and it is superb.

Signature is fantastic. I believe we are currently on Batch 3 here in the uK with Batch 4 due to appear in not too long. With a belnd of first fill bourbon, refill bourbon and sherry casks, Signature is a great expression of what The Balvenie is all about - honey sweetness, spice and a bit of oak. As Christmas rolls ever closer promotions will come into play in all the UK supermarkets so deals to be had.
