Just trying to put together my christmas list of whiskies i am going to treat myself to. Just wonder what others thought of the Ballantines 17 year old, i havent had it myself but was considering getting a bottle after Jim Murray named it World Whisky of the Year in his new 2011 whisky bible.
I am not normally a blended whisky driker but am curious about this one, have you had it, is it worth a try? |

I dont drink many blends regularly with one exception the Ballantines 17 year old, IMHO the best blend available and fully deserves Jim Murrays recognition in the new bible although putting it in the same league table as single malts i dont agree with.
Go for it McKay, you wont regret it. |

| The Ballantines 17 is one of the best blended whiskies you can get for your money IMO. I agree Mac, blends and malts are different drink although the Ballantines 17 does compete with the malts for complexity and quality. I am sure you wont regret igetting a bottle Mckay. |

| To me the Ballantines Finest, 12 ,17 and 21 are all excoutstanding blends. I have been told the Ballantines 30 is also very good but not had the pleasure of it. Price to quality yes the 17 is certainly worth a try. |
