I have been trying to find a price for the above whisky which I have 4 bottles of. Port Dundas Distillery is now closed and these were gifted to some employees. I have tried to find out what they are worth but can't seem to find any information. Is this because they are obviously collectors items and not available on any sites as yet.
I would be grateful for your help please. |

It is the first i have heard of this bottling, i havent seen any come up for sale yet. Diageo recently released a Port Dundas 20 Year Old Special Release 2011 see here:
www.scotchmaltwhisky.co.uk/portdundas20yearold.htm
This a limited edition of 1920 bottles and sells for £114.
Do you know how many bottles of your Port Dundas 200th Anniversary bottling was released, if so does it state this info on the bottle. Is there any other info on the bottle such as cask type, age, ABV. Does it come in a box or tube.
I am sure this will be rarer and more collectable than Diageos 2011 Port Dundas special release. Single grain whiskies, even older bottlings dont fetch a great deal of money but the fact that your bottles are the 200th annivesary staff only bottlings should help them sell no problem. Difficult to give my price guesstimate without all the details of the bottle. |

Blossom23 they will be considered collectable and i am sure we will see some come up at auction or in whisky specialist shops but i havent seen any yet.
As Mark says some more details about your bottles should help us estimate a value. |

The whisky is Single Grain aged 19 years - finished in sherry casks. ABV 43% It was the 200th year anniversary of Port Dundas from 1810-2010 and the bottles are limited edition. I'm sure how many were produced but the ones I have 4 which are numbered in the 500"s. We think approx 1000. This production was the final one from the distillery, and was never for the open market.
It is presented in a wooden box with sliding perspex front and the bottles have a fold out concertina leaflet attached which details the Port Dundas Timeline and names of the employees involved in this final production.
I know they will be collectors items but just wondered how I would find out what they may be worth to a collector. |

My estimate would be around £200 per bottle, they are very unique bottles so they could fetch a lot more at auction but it can be difficult to predict the interest in grain whisky.
I recommend you contact some of the auction houses who specialise in whisky. They are Bonhams in Edinburgh and McTears in Glasgow, they both hold a few specialist whisky auctions per year and i am sure they will give you an more qualified estimate than i can. If you contact them with a view to selling and give them the full details of the bottles and a picture they should give you an estimate. They both have websites where you can contact them.
You could also contact The Whisky Exchange online whisky shop who buy as well as sell whisky, i am sure they would make you an offer for them.
Once you get a few estimates you could also consider ebay to sell them as sometimes this can fetch more money, just remember to set a appropriate reserve price.
Another option is to hang on to them for 5 or 10 years as i am sure they would certainly increase in value. |
