Welcome to the forum John

There are loads of whiskies to choose from that are non peaty or woody some i would suggest are:

Balvenie Signature, 15 single barrel
Glenlivet 12, 18
Glengoyne 10,12, 17
An Cnoc 12, 16
Auchentoshan Classic, 10, 12
Glen Grant The Major's Reserve, 10, 16
Dalwhinnie 15

Most of these you can find on offer this time of year.

Whenever I offer whisky to friends who don't normally drink malts, they seem to like Glenmorangie 10 and Glenlivet 12. So these are the ones I'd recommend!

If you think you will like fuller bodied, medium sweet whisky with pronounced sherry and fruity notes then you could try something from Glendronach, Macallan, Mortlach, Aberlour and Glenfarclas.

Hi John,

When I first tried to get in to whisky I found very many flavours too much for me. The one that was easiest on the palate and that (after a while) that allowed me to start enjoying other whiskies was macallan fine oak. This is still the smoothest dram I have tastest by far.

If you like the flavours in Sherry then Brummie has an amazing selection for you. If you are not so keen on it then I would follow on from Charlie
