Surely there is not a connection between what is in the the Sainsburys Speyside taste the difference malt and Glenfiddich or Balvenie.

I thought it was Ian Macleod Distillers that bottled the Sainsburys taste the difference malts.

Hi Fergie

You are right, there is no connection in the contents of the bottles. This is simply an opportunity to bring together an interesting group of people - the distillery, evangelist, retailer and consumer, all in one place at one time.

Should lead to a great discussion.

Jonny

Do you know if they will be making a recording of the event available for those that cant make it at 7pm Thursday.

Who is behind this tasting, i mean who is sponsoring/paying for this to take place.

Hi Alastair

A recording of the full tasting will be up on You Tube after the event but it may take a few days.

The tasting is being supported by First Drinks, UK distributer for Glenfiddich & The Balvenie.

Hope this helps.

I will be interested in what they think of the Sainsbury own label malts, i thought all 3, Islay, Highland and Speyside were very good.

Jonny forgive me if i am wrong but do you work for William Grants/First Drinks or Sainsburys as i really cant see what you get out of this, you seem to have a whisky blog with no more than a few posts and now you are organising tastings at the Glenfiddich distillery, it doesnt add up.

Sorry if i am wrong, but in my defence i have been drinking.

If i am wrong, in my defence i was just reading on another forum about marketing/pr people posing as everyday web users. This combined with the whisky i have been drinking may have made me paranoid.

I see your point Mac. Is this forum being used for free marketing, possibly. Still worth watching to see what the panel think of the Sainsbury own label malts compared to the Glenfiddich and the Balvenie

Well i tuned in, shame the Sainsburys man didnt show as there whisky is very good and it probably wasnt done justice. OK very much a PR exercise but i enjoyed it all the same. Although the whisky lounge guy could put people to sleep and he didnt seem to know he was the host at times Laughing Sam and Jamie was easy to listen to although not look at in there what i would assume early christmas present jumpers. Anyway i enjoyed a Glenfiddich 15 while watching it.

I caught a bit of it earlier, didnt have time to watch it all. I see your point about the whisky lounge guy.

Good to see the Glenfiddich Solera vat and hear the description of the process.

Big Mac - I do indeed work for First Drinks. My blog is simply an occasional hobby as my whisky interest stretches far beyond my work.

I in no way want to try and pass off as anything I am not and simply wanted to tell as many people as possible about the tasting I was putting on. I hope you had a chance to tune in and enjoy.

Thanks to those of you who did and for the feedback above.

Jonny.
