| This is back in stock at TWE. Does anyone know whether this is the same as the original release? There were supposed to be 1000, but some come in a wooden box & some in a red tube. Thinking of getting a couple to put away. Does anyone know whether these red ones are worth getting? |

AFAIK the Abhainn Dearg 2008 in the wooden box is the "First Bottling" of Abhainn Dearg Single Malt Whisky, i believe there are 2011 bottles.
The bottle in the red tube is single malt spirit, it is less than 3 years old so cannot yet be called whisky. If in the future Abhainn Dearg is considered to produce good whisky then both of these bottles could be good investments, time will tell |

Thanks for your reply Kenny. However I'm not confusing the spirit of lewis with the 3 year old .The whisky comes in a rather ugly chunky box. The
spirit i've seen (one was in the SWA 6th auction) is in a basic unfinished box like
you get chess pieces in. Apart from this it's the same bottle that's now in a red tube.
Anybody know more about this? |

I am certain that the bottle of Abhainn Dearg 2008 that The Whisky Exchange is selling is the very first bottling of Abhainn Dearg single malt.
The only other releases from Abhainn Dearg have been single malt spirit which is under 3 years some have been in red tubes and 1000 bottles in the chunky wooden box like the one that was in the SWA 6th auction.
If i hadnt had the chance to taste the Abhainn Dearg spirit at a whisky tasting i would have been tempted to try a bottle at the £25 that TWE are selling it for but i have tasted it and dont think i could drink a full bottle of it, i am not writing it off, i will certainly give it a go in a few years time. The Abhainn Dearg 2008 First Bottling is certainly for collecting as i would guess it wont be much different from the spirit i tasted, it is certainly not for drinking at £150 |

| I personally think the £150 price tag is to high and obviously others think this also as it hasnt sold out yet. |

| I see they also have a miniature of Abhainn Dearg single cask single malt whisky at TWE for £9.95. Good if you want to try it and probably quite collectable also. |
