I have several great suggestions for whiskies to buy.

Can someone recommend a good site/shop that I can buy from?

Thanks again

All depends where you stay?

Lots of great whisky shops out there!

Some online shops are -
www.thewhiskyexchange.com
www.lfw.co.uk
www.royalmilewhiskies.com
www.robbiesdrams.com
www.tamsdrams.com

Or online whisky auctions -
www.scotchwhiskyauctions.com
www.whiskyauction.com

And also Ebay

I would recommend The Whisky Exchange, huge selection and there delivery has always been very fast in my experience and only £4.95 no matter the size of you order. Just click The Whisky Exchange link at the top of the page as it helps support this site

Love the free wees from loch fyne whisky, excellent people to deal with. Whisky exchange are also good but i have had a wrong dated bottle and damaged box. I didnt complain as in the first case it was to my advantage and for the second it was a bottle for drinking so didmt much odds. Robbies drams web site can be a bit slow to keep up with whats actualy available, the shop and staff are good although the very odd bottle is daftly overpriced compaired to whisky excange. Usualy work between the three.

It can also be worth buying direct from distilllary.

I'm envious of those that can order online, or have their whisky shipped to them. I live in Massachusetts where shipping of alcohol across the state borders is illegal. That does mean that getting a hold of harder to find bottles will be even more satisfying... Smile

Gambler

How does that work if you get sent a "package" from Scotland??
Does it matter that it contains whisky?

Hmm, I'll have to look into The Whisky Exchange then...

The main issue is that online stores tend to follow the state's laws. Individuals can certainly send bottles by mail, but risk prosecution if somehow found out (likely a small chance given careful packing).

Gambler... I presume you've tried Federal wine and spirits?

I send the odd bottle out to MA- Milford as by better half has family there, I found local liquor stores had unusual bottles or at least bottles long gone here in the UK.

Federal Wine and Spirits is where I'm trying to get Bunnahabhain 18 (they say they can get it but it would be cheaper to go through Whisky Exchange unless the duty is high on it). I'd probably have Federal ship it to me if I could, we'll see.

Just read your going to RI - Bunny 18 was in Bellevue in Newport - albeit 12 months ago!

Good luck

Thanks!

So, the alternative for me looks like Whisky Exchange or Federal Spirits. Can anyone who's used Whisky Exchange in the U.S. let me know how it went? Also, how do you pay the import taxes? Is it shipped directly to your door, or do you have to go to the port it arrived at?

Thanks again,
Robert
