I am new to drinking whisky and would like some suggetions on what to buy.
I don't really like the smokey ones.
A few bottles I have, that I like are a Glenfarclas 15, a Glenlivit 15 and a couple of Macallan 10.
Can someone suggest a few bottles that I can try?
Thanks |

Welcome to the forum pillliwinx
Looks like you have a taste for the sherried malts, the Glenfarclas 15 and Macallan 10 sherryoak are both outstanding drams.
A few sherried malts I would suggest are Aberlour 10, Balvenie Doublewood, Mortlach 16, Glendronach 12 Double Cask, Gledronach 15 Revival
As you enjoyed the Glenlivet 15 then i would suggest Dalwhinnie 15, Cragganmore 12, Glenmorangie 10, Glenfiddich 12, Old Pulteney 12, Glengoyne 10, Arran 10
Enjoy |

Blackadders suggestions are all great whiskies.
I will add the Glenfiddich 15 the Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban (port cask finish) and Glenmorangie Lasanta (sherry cask finish). |

I will add Aberfeldy 12, Balblair 2001, Auchentoshan 12
For a bit more money Aberlour 15, 16 and 18 are all excellent, and the Macallan 18 is outstanding. |

Yea the Glenmorangie Lasanta is a magnificent dram.
Other ones you might like, Auchentoshan 3wood, Arran 14yo, Aberlour A'Bunadh, bruichladdich sherry classic (won awards recently).
Dont be put off by all smokey / peaty whiskies as they are all different PPM Levels.
The arran machrie moor is a great dram at 14ppm so fairly low compared to ardbeg and laphroaig.
One of my current favourites is the Bowmore 15yo Darkest, this is a sherry casked malt with some smoke to it, Nutty, dark chocolate, liquorice, salty, peppery, creamy.
With a long smooth toasted malt finnish.

Just found a bottle of Edradour 10 at the back of a cupboard, I really like this one too.
I can't believe I am in my early 40's and never appreciated whisky before!! |

| Early 40's here too, and drinking whisky for less than 2 months, and only 'seriously' in the past 2-3 weeks. Glad to see someone else in the same stage! |

Just settling down after a week at work with a few bottles sitting around.
Wife is here with her bottle of wine and a DVD film is on.
Can life get any better?
Happy days:-))) |

| Long week for me too! No wife, but a purring cat on my lap and a dram of Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban. |
