Greetings all.
So I'll be traveling the next couple of days, and I'll be in the vicinity of a liquor shop that has a very good selection of Single Malt and Blended Scotch Whisky. My original interest in the shop was because they had Bunnahabhain 18 for $75, but it turns out that it's the older 43 % ABV version. However they have quite a few of the harder to find (at least where I live in the United States) whiskies.
So among my 'wish list', are:
Talisker 18
Talisker Distiller's Edition
Lagavulin Distiller's Edition
The Talisker 18 seems to be really hard to find so I'm definitely leaning towards getting a bottle of that, especially at the - what appears to be a great price - $66.99 they're selling it for.
The Talisker DE is only going for $3 more ($69.99) and seems to get as good reviews or better than the 18.
The Lagavulin DE's price is quite a bit higher, at $92.99 so is LIKELY off my list for the moment. However, I'm interested in other people's thoughts on these three whiskies, especially given the prices this place is selling them for.

| Talisker 18 is my all-time favourite whisky. Of the other two, I prefer the Lagavulin DE to the Talisker DE, but both are excellent. I'd advise you to definitely go for the Talisker 18 - it's the hardest to find of the three, as they're making it in really small batches nowadays, and also it seems better value for money. Over here, it's around £60, with the Talisker DE around £40-£50. So I'd say that you're getting a much better deal with the 18. |

The old Bunnahabhain 18 was an great whisky although i agree that the new version is an improvement. If you can get the old version for a decent price then i would say it is worth it.
I agree with the others the Talisker 18 is excellent. For my money i would pick up an Ardbeg Uigeadail before the Lagavulin DE |

Thanks for the advice!
I managed to get another store to get the newer version of Bunnahabhain 18 in, so I'll grab 1 or 2 of those (though the price isn't nearly as good as for the older bottles)..
And of the three mentioned in the title, I'll be getting the Talisker 18, possibly two since I love Talisker 10 and the price does look really low. |
